When paintball originally began, paintball apparel was very limited. The first paintballers (people that play paintball games), had a protective set of goggles for the face, some sort of hat, a thick coat, and a pair of jeans. As the popularity of paintball has grown, so has the sophistication of paintball apparel available for the paintballers.
Paintball has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. Just like football, soccer, or any other sport, there is now a wide variety of gear available. There is paintball apparel available for just about every part of the body.
There are pants, jeans, belts, jerseys, jackets, shoes, watches, goggles, harnesses, bags, as wells headphones. As with any sport, safety is important for the protection of the players. An important aspect of safety is having and wearing protective gear when playing paintball.
The most important piece of protective gear is goggles. All goggles come with a safety rating and will withstand getting hit in the face with a paintball pellet. There are various styles and types of goggles available from the very basic to high end all-in-one face mask and goggle sets.
Another important piece of paintball apparel that a player should have is a pair of gloves. The gloves should fit comfortably while still being able to easily handle the marker and other equipment.
A player should also have a piece of protective gear for the upper body. There are various types of jerseys and jackets available that will reduce the amount of impact felt by a paintball pellet, if not almost completely eliminate it. The jersey or jacket should fit snuggly, but still be comfortable allowing for easy movement of the arms and upper body.
The lower body is another piece of protective gear needed by players. There are protective pants and special jeans available. The pants or jeans should be comfortable to wear. A player should be able to bend, crawl, run and move without any restrictions.
For more advanced players, there are headphones and other high end gear available. The headphones allow for players to move freely while remaining in contact with the rest of their team. This allows the players to communicate without giving up their locations to the opposing team.
Paintball is a fun sport. An important aspect of this sport, just like any other sport, is safety. Having and wearing the proper gear allows for players to fully enjoy paintball.
